Solar PV panels capture the sun’s energy using photovoltaic cells. These cells will then convert the energy from sunlight into electricity, this is then changed using an inverter to useable electricity for your home or business. Solar PV is most efficient on sunnier days, however this is not a requirement and will still generate energy on more overcast days.
The panels are usually installed on the roof, although they can also be placed on the ground the roof is unsuitable.
